The Good Little Christmas Tree
Published in Paperback by Walker Books (25 October, 1990)
Authors: Ursula Moray Williams and Gillian Tyler
Average review score:

Family Favorite
The Horn Book review states this is no match for contemporary Christmas stories, but our family would very much disagree. This story transports one into a magical, old fashioned world that circumscribes todays commercialism. The verse is beautiful and leaves one with an emotional glow. We love The Polar Express, but The Good Little Christmas Tree is our family favorite!

Grand Canyon River Hikes
Published in Paperback by Funhog Press (01 January, 2000)
Author: Tyler Williams
Average review score:

A must-have guide for those going down the Colorado River
Although you don't have to be going down the Grand Canyon on a raft to get the most out of this guide, this will greatly enhance your experience if you are.

This book is jam-packed with the information you want. If you've ever been on a raft and wondered "Hey, what's up that side canyon?", Williams tells you all you need to know, from what mile marker the hike starts at, to where to park your boat and camp, to how long and difficult the hike is and what you'll see.

The book includes maps and gorgeous photographs to augment the text, plus background information on the Grand Canyon--geology, history, politics, and folklore--that's just plain good reading.

If you're one of the lucky ones who gets to paddle down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon each year, DO NOT GO without this book to take that experience to a new level. And if you're one of the many folks who explores the Canyon by hiking in from the top, here's a book with a bunch of information you don't want to be without.

Handbook of Chemical Engineering Calculations
Published in Hardcover by McGraw Hill Text (September, 1993)
Authors: Nicholas P. Chopey and Tyler Gregory Hicks
Average review score:

Nice step-by-step examples for various calculations
As a chemical engineer, this book rates up there with Perry's on value of information. Chopey does a very nice job of including detailed step-by-step calculations for a multitude of subjects. The many examples are very relevant to the text and provide good insight to the calculation process. The book is very well organized and easy to use.

Excellent
This is a terrific book! I recommend this practical book to all practicing mechanical engineers. The calculations are detailed and well presented. However, I don't believe I saw any calculations dealing with automatic controls. For those who crave knowledge this is a must have.

From the back...
Did a beautiful woman's mysterious past hold the key to D.A. Jack MacAlister's latest case? He was certain it did-and he needed A.J.'s testimony to send a ruthless kidnapper to prison. But she couldn't remember what Jack needed to know. In fact, A.J. couldn't remember anything at all...
Consumed by desire, Jack yearned to protect A.J., to win her trust-to possess her, body and soul. And somehow along the way, finding her real identity lost its urgency. Jack knew exactly who she was: the woman he loved.

In my Opinon...
'Homecoming' is the sequel to 'Our Child?' (the story of Carolyn and Drew). In this book Carolyn's sister Annie, or A.J. as she is now called, is the only one who can help Jack put a kidnaper behind bars. Jack is the D.A prosecuting the case that would put the man that kidnapped Annie and several other children away. The only problem is that A.J. does not remember her younger years and does not want to know if she is Annie, the little girl kidnapped from her family. A.J. just wants to continue her life the way that it is, as director of Hope house. Jack is desperate to win his case and refuses to give up on A.J.. It is a constant battle of wills between A.J. and Jack, but they eventually manage to fall in love. The truth does come out and A.J. is going to need Jack more than ever. I did feel bad for A.J.'s therapist, Nick, who we learned from the previous book wanted a relationship with A.J. himself. I look forward to the next book to read his story in 'Temporary Family'.

I Can Count (Usborne Playtime Series)
Published in Library Binding by Edu Dev (January, 1999)
Authors: Ray Gibson, Amanda Barlow, and Jenny Tyler
Average review score:

Making vegetables count for kids!
I Can Count is a great book for any creative child. With this book, a child can count their way through the book and look at the colourful illustrations, or use the book as an instruction manual to recreate the beautiful, yet simple pictures. On one page are the instructions to printing the animals and flowers featured in this book. Each picture has six easy steps to printing and painting the picture. The pictures are very clear, so a non-reading child can follow the instructions. On the facing page is the illustration depicting the number. My nearly five-year-old spent an afternoon working her way through the book, printing with potatoes cut in half and her fingers. Her pictures were very close those published, which made her feel very proud of her work. We also use this book for counting practice, working our way through one to 10, all the way up to 50.
